Majestic Escapade

Food, family and forgiveness.

Whether we are rich or poor, food brings our hearts and minds together. The recipe which creates a permanent bond between two people. That foams layers of memory that never crumbles.

Big arguments between us and our parents may end up badly. It’s true that not all parents are perfect that may lead to a rough upbringing. To bring about a reconciliation is a better option, I believe – like it or not. Besides, our parents are irreplaceable.

Not every happy ending starts with a happy beginning. It’s like not everyone is a good cook, but anyone can cook. When we cook for the first time, the food does not often tastes so good like what we see in live cooking shows. It has to be readjusted so it will be better. Thus, we have to change, change and change; and take chances to succeed in life. That’s the secret recipe!

Sometimes when things are falling apart they may be actually be falling into place.

Life From Scratch: A Memoir of Food, Family, and Forgiveness is a magnificent book written by Sasha Martin.

Trapped in the outside

The world can be a scary place.

I’m still finding “Room” by Emma Donoghue to be incredibly written and strongly captivating. There will never be a story of a 5-year old boy who moved to “outside” if an innocent teenaged girl hadn’t been kidnapped and sexually assaulted by a psychopath.

Everybody’s damaged by something.

The story is obviously not unpredictable but it leaves a deep impression on me. Every girl and woman “in the outside” are not a hundred percent safe. They don’t feel hundred percent safe both mentally and physically. They feel disrespected and mentally tortured if they are looked up and down by some random men. This happens anywhere and it’s psychologically and emotionally disturbing. It is not right to intentionally harass just any woman which can be due to hormonal causes among these men for some reasons. God knows. Rape is not a new headline but it happens almost everyday or every hour in every corner of the globe.

Lots of the world seems to be a repeat.

Women have a right to have freedom against all spectrum of violence and discrimination. Women deserved to gain respect from men. Women are not to be trapped “in the outside”. This is not one-sided, just my own personal opinion related with the book to real life.

It’s called mind over matter. If we don’t mind, it doesn’t matter.

Quotes by Emma Donoghue, Room.

Dear Karma

There’s a saying:

Keep your nose out of another’s mess.

Strictly Between Us by Jane Fallon is made for a real page turner. Believe it or not I finished reading it in a day. I find it to be both witty and ironic with the ridiculously funny evil plot twist which reminds me of Mean Girls. Except that this one involves grown-up characters who were not originally mean and secretly live a life of lies and deception and ends up with a divorce. Yup, life’s pretty messy, right.

I know it is hard for someone who is being overprotective. They don’t want their best friends to get hurt by their loved ones. But putting yourself into their personal life is a no-no. Absolutely a NO! It is okay to lend an advice or two on relationships. However, please let them talk it over and decide. It’s their marriage, not yours.

Dear Karma, I really hate you right now, you made your point. – Ottilie Weber, Family Ties

High And Low Notes

Who doesn’t familiar with Mitch Albom’s brilliant work ‘The Magic Strings of Frankie Presto’. It is one of my favourite. The literature is comprehensible but I was lost somewhere in the first few pages, thinking what was it trying to say – Music, baby, mother’s womb, guitar and suddenly about the magical strings. Nonsense! I almost stopped reading it. And then, okay, I braced myself continued reading. Until then I knew that I would be a foolish enough if I’d lost my patience and shut it.

“This is life. Things get taken away. You will learn to start over many times – or you will be useless.”

Our life is not constant. Well I don’t believe that we have to sacrifice to be happy or successful either. Forget the “life is fair” or “life is unfair”. You know what, life is like that. We have to understand our nature on how to survive in this world. We won’t grow into a person that we are at present if we don’t go through this “evolutionary process”. Whatever circumstances that we face, there’s always a price. So what do we do. We live in it, we embrace it and be thankful for it. Whether it be good or bad.

“The secret is not to make your music louder, but to make the world quieter.”

To be discovered, we struggle in life. To be praised, we struggle in life. To make it to the top, we struggle in life. Life without struggle is not normal even though one is gifted since infancy. Frankie Presto had proven it. We have to make a huge effort to create the right notes, producing a harmony. The music that will change our life. Yes, it will take years and years to make that sounds right. But what’s important – we have to have the courage to change the pitch. “…the six lives he changed with his six magical blue strings.”

“But you cannot change your past, no matter how you craft your future.”

To be honest, my past wasn’t at all so good. I had both pleasurable and painful memories. All I did was ABCD which seems logical – accept, believe, change and determined. No one will be able to forget the past even though the quote is everywhere. Now that is a real bullshit. The bad ones can haunt you and predominate if you play the wrong notes. We have to help ourself to unmask it. Stand up and be confident. We create the future by learning from our past. Because without our past we will never discover our melody.
